From - $960 per person
Innsbruck, the capitol of Austria, is Europe's oldest and most beautiful ski centers. Sometimes known as the "capital of the Alps", it is nestled in the Tyrolean area of Europe in the valley of the emerald-green Inn River. It is not a quaint ski village, but a city of more than 130,000 residents, providing many cultural attractions, excellent shopping and a happening nightlife. There is world class opera, gorgeous architecture, and superb museums, castles, cathedrals and palaces, as well as wonderful ski areas. An all-in-one ski pass covers the major ski resorts in the area including the Olympic villages of Igl and Axamer Lizum and the small villages of Tulfes, Mutters and the Stubai Glacier. Most visitors are intermediate skiers, but experts and beginners have many options. Those who do not ski will be kept well occupied with the many sightseeing opportunities.
LODGING: The family-run 4-star Alpin Park Hotel, located in the city center, is only a 15 minute walk from the central railway station and the historical town of Innsbruck. The rooms are warmly decorated with bath/shower, satellite TV, hairdryers, and minibar. The on-site restaurant serves Austrian and international dishes. There is also a cozy bar with exotic drinks and a wellness center with a hot tub and sauna. The Grauer Bar Hotel combines comfort and modern style. It is located in the city cent, just 150 meters from the historical old town and next to the Imperial palace, church and Garden. There are many dining places nearby. The rooms have hairdryers, minibar and satellite TV. The complex has a fitness center with spa, solarium and sauna.
MOUNTAIN FACTS: The area has 200 trails covering 500 kilometer (310 miles). All six of the ski areas are within a one-hour radius of the town.
